Tired teenage boy

Apparently, driving a tractor during harvest is exhausting! He comes home clean, there's no dirt in his hair, his nose, his eyes, or his teeth, but he does work long hours & is so tired! This is about the only thing he wants when he gets home from work. This was the other night when I went to get him for dinner...I ended up just letting him sleep!

Beautiful Jackson

I got to go to one of my favorite places on Monday. I had a bunch of work in Jackson, WY, so I made the trip up. When I go, I go along the Palisades rather than over the pass. I so love that trip and especially at this time of year, it was gorgeous!

The Snake River near Swan Valley

The hills along the Palisades Resevoir

Mountain in the mist outside of Alpine, WY

So pretty!

Some of the best skiing ever--in the summer, they have this really cool slide that you can take down the ski slopes at Jackson

Along Palisades again. So, so, so pretty!!!!

Spud Harvest

This is Josh's first year working Spud Harvest. He wasn't sure he was going to be able to with his knee, but he's working for terrific farmers who found something for him to do. I have to say, after my high school harvest career of two years riding the combine and a year picking clods at the cellar, I'm a little jealous of him! He is driving tractor in the field, crushing the weeds behind the side diggers. Right now, they're working in the field directly in front of the house, so when the call came for more food please(!) I walked out to take him food & took photos. I so do not miss working harvest!

I spent many, many hours on a combine much like this in high school!

I don't think I have ever been dirtier in my life than I was while working spud harvest! Josh is lucky to be in an air conditioned, heated tractor cab with a stereo!

Unhappy teenage boy

So the big doctor's appointment was today. The good news is that nothing is completely torn, which means no surgery! The bad news is that he damaged and partially tore his MCL, ACL, and PCL. The doctor compared it to a rope and explained that it's like he frayed some of the strands of the rope. He has been shut down for at least four weeks, which means that he is done for the season for both Soccer and Cross Country. I don't think I have ever seen him so devastated. He really, really thought he'd be able to come back for Districts and State. I feel so bad for him. He's so sad about this & there's nothing I can do to make it better. Poor guy! But like the doctor explained, missing the rest of the soccer season is better than taking a chance on having to get ACL surgery, which is a 1 year recuperation!

New Quilt

Here's the latest project my mom is working on. It's the same pattern as the quilt she made for me, a Trip Around The World, just done in different colors. I still like mine better, but think this is so, so pretty.

How cute are they?

How cute are Josh & his friends? I just love having these kids around. I remember in high school, how important my friends were to me. Now, watching Josh, I know how happy my parents must have been that I had good friends growing up! I am so happy that Josh has good, strong friends who are good examples to him. They're terrific kids who & I just love having them here as often as they want to come!

Soccer updates

I have been so bad! I think that there have been like 6 games since I last posted about soccer games. Josh has not played since he got hurt 2 weeks ago. The doctor put him on restriction til this past Wednesday, when he went back in for evaluation. Wednesday came, and I think josh knew he wasn't going to get cleared to play yet. Dr. Peterson ordered an MRI, which he had yesterday, and sent him to Physical Therapy three times a week for four weeks. The MRI was looking to see if he tore his MCL or if his miniscus is damaged. Josh is still hoping to get back for at least Districts and hopefully States, so we are hoping that the MRI will come back clean & he can keep strengthening the knee with the PT. So currently, Josh is the new Stats guy for the soccer team.

In the 6 games Josh has been out, they've gone 4-1-1. They're a good team this year & are doing really well. Here's hoping they keep it up & Josh can get back to help them get to States!

Soccer Game #5--SR looses 3-1

Thursday was SR's 5th soccer game--an away game in Teton. I was supposed to go, but due to being sick, ended up staying home instead. They lost, 3-1...hey I'm noticing a trend here--they win the games I'm at and lose the ones I'm not at! Anyway, Josh told me that Teton played pretty dirty..it was a very physical game and Snake had four players get injured. One was Josh. After taking him in to the clinic yesterday, where he got to see an orthopedist, he was diagnosed with an MCL pull, which is better than a tear! He's been shut down til he goes back to the doctor on the 16th. The hope is that Dr. Peterson will then clear him to begin playing again.

My very own Custom Quilt by Judie!

This past spring, my mom started making an Around The World quilt in some scraps she had. As I watched it come together, I kept thinking about how much I loved it--it's colors that I love & it's just beautiful! So I mentioned to mom how much I loved it & she gave it to me! I am thrilled to have one of my mom's custom quilts! Her work is just beautiful. My new quilt is the perfect size to use for napping & is my new Sunday afternoon quilt. Thanks mom! I love it!!

Soccer Game #4--SR wins 3-0!!

Today was game #4, at home against Shelley. Josh, after being home sick with a sinus infection on Monday & out yesterday for driver's ed, played a great game. He's feeling way, way better. The team played much better than I was told they played yesterday. It was good to see them bounce back from a tough game and a loss yesterday to play so well and control the game today.

As always, Josh is #5.

Soccer Game #3--SR loses 2-0

So the first away game was last night. Josh didn't get to go because of a conflict with driver's ed. He was way bummed to hear that they lost the game 2-0 to Sugar Salem.
