Hee Haw

About a month or so ago, our ward put on a Hee Haw. Do any of you remember the show Hee Haw? I remember it as a kid from re-runs. It was this old country hick show that was full of short skits. It was sort of dumb, hokey, and so funny! The ward Hee Haw was hilarious! It was fun to see everyone, from the youth to the leaders of the ward, really getting into it & enjoying the spirit of the show. I didn't think I had any photos of it, because I was using James' camera & it was being dumb. I discovered today though, that the photos did turn out & they're not too bad...I didn't get a ton of photos, but I'm glad I got the ones I did!

Track in Firth

I guess it really has been a long time since high school, because I had completely forgotten the down side of track. That would be that track is run in the spring. In Idaho. This last week, Idaho decided to make a return to winter. We had snow, we had hail, we had 20 degree weather. And of course, we had that during the track meet on Wednesday! It was so cold! I had three quilts/blankets, a sweatshirt, gloves, and a scarf, and was still shivering!!! I had forgotten that those track meets can be frigid! Josh wasn't feeling particularly well this last week, so he only ran the 4X200 and the 4X400--they finished 4th and 5th...not too bad at all, being as this was a 12 school meet. Here are some frigid photos....Keegan on the far end coming in 2nd on the hurdles

I do remember doing alot of huddling under blankets like this!
Josh coming to get his quilt from us
Those poor kids looked so cold out there! And the wind was blowing at about 30 miles an hour....not sure why we never thought to bring tents!

Cats!

Snake River High School did a production of Cats! for their musical this year. We went last night & may I say, it was an awesome production! I have long loved the music of Cats & was really looking forward to attending this show last night. They did not in any way disappoint! Grizabella, singer of the gorgeous song Memories, was Anne Grayson. I have heard this song sung many, many times, as it is one of my favorites. This young woman sang one of the most beautiful renditions of this song that I have ever heard. She has an absolutely breathtakingly beautiful voice. I seriously had goosebumps and chills. Some of the photos are dark, but here ya go anyway:
Anne Grayson singing her gorgeous song

Rum Tum Tugger was played by Ethan Williams, who also has a beautiful voice. I knew that Snake River had a great choir, but I was blown away by the number of students with incredible voices. If you had the chance to see this play, you got a big treat. If you didn't, you majorly missed out!
Magical Mr. Mistofelles--he was really cool!
Very bad photo--but this is Josh's friend Christian--soccer player extrodinairre, track star, and apparently, tap dancer--he was a dancing beetle...that I do not remember from previously watching Cats.

Spring Track

Now that the basketball season has ended, we have moved on to spring track. Yesterday was the first meet. They're still trying to figure out what events they are best at, etc. Josh ran the 400, the 200, the 4 X 200, and the 4 X 400. He did pretty well for himself. He placed 5th in his heats in the 400 and the 200, I think. His 4 X 200 & his 4 X 400 teams both placed third. He placed 9th out of 25 kids in the 400 & like 18th in the 200. They all did really well, especially for their first meet. His 4 X 200 team is all freshmen.

Family Room Progress

First, I have to say, my new background is awesome! Thank you Jen! Dingbat that I am, I completely forgot that you were going to do an update, so when I pulled up my blog for my new post, for a second, I wasn't sure who's blog I was on!

So, almost 10 years ago, we converted our garage into a family room and built a new garage. We have loved our big family room, but have never really finished it off. The ceiling has always been taped, but never finished. We did the first coat of paint on the walls years ago, but hated the color once it was done, and have never don anything about it. The room has always been a gathering place for the boys & their friends, and finishing the room is something that we've always talked about but never done.

Until this week! We finally decided to take the leap and get the family room taken care of. So, the father of one of James' best friends does taping & texturing, so Duane came and did our ceiling over the last week. Here's what it's looked like:
Here's in the middle of the week:
Duane finished the ceiling last night, so today we painted it and got the room put back in order. Josh did the painting & did a terrific job!
And here is the final product tonight. We have picked the color for the walls, and within the next two weeks, Bavarian Creme will be covering the walls & Restful will be on the bookcases and cupboards. I'll post the finished product when the whole family room is done!
As well you can imagine, we are all exhausted! We decided that we have all earned ice cream & a movie! And I think this means that I'm going to have to give Josh his clothes back!
